Modern day surfing has mythical status in popular culture.  Surfers seem to surround themselves in a mystique that makes their passion seem so undeniably cool!  It helps of course, that Point Break was such a huge hit with both male and female audiences and really propelled surfing as a pastime into the public eye.

Surfing lessons are a great way to spend part of your Stag Weekend or Hen Weekend.  Your lesson will take you through the basics and end up with you riding your first wave!

Newquay is the most famous surf spot in the UK and the infamous Cribber reef can, on the right day, give huge 30 foot waves.  These are probably a bit much for your first lesson but definitely something to aspire to!

Surfing was first witnessed by Europeans in 1779.  It formed an integral part of ancient Polynesian culture with the tribal chief being chosen as he was the best "wave rider".  Surfing almost totally died out after this as European missionaries outlawed many ancient cultural practices.

Thankfully Hawaiians living near the famous Waikiki beach began to revive surfing at the turn of the 20th century.  Surfing has changed a great deal in the last 100 years with the advent of the newer short board styles.

Surfing is a mainstream pastime that is accessible to almost every one.  With surf schools appearing to take some of the mystery out of this ancient sport it is ideal for any Stag Night or Hen Night.

Surf Gangs such as those seen in the Movie Point Break really do exist and are known as Da hui in Malibu and Hawaii.  They will often defend their stretch of beach with threats of violence!

The largest number of surfers to ever surf a single wave is 84.

British Airways wont carry Surfboards on their flights... this was met by a big "WHOA DUDE" from the surfing community!

Surfing lessons can be enjoyed from as little as £25.00!

Clear Cut Weekends can offer surfing lessons for your Stag Party or Hen Party in
a few locations around the UK.

This activity is great fun and typically includes an introduction to water safety
and beach awareness. You will learn how to ride and control a board lying
down and then learn how to "pop up" and surf standing up like a pro!
Obviously all the equipment is included which includes that all important
wetsuit!

So, what are you waiting for?  Surfs up dude, it's time to drop in,
carve up some great waves and hang five!
