You
might be forgiven for immediately dismissing this
activity and thinking "you must be nuts"! However, we
urge you to look again! Zorbing or Sphereing is simply
adrenaline fuelled fun. Once you've taken your first
roll you'll be itching to go again and again.
So what exactly is it we hear you ask?! Well, Zorbing is
a relatively new trend to hit the UK. The technical way
of describing Zorbing is, the practice of humans
travelling inside a sphere.
The Zorb is usually transparent and is a massive
inflatable sphere which stands at about 3 metres tall.
Inside the large sphere, you will find a slightly
smaller one which is suspended by thousands of small
nylon ribbons. Inside the inner sphere you will find
safety harnesses ready to strap you in for the
exhilarating journey ahead!
One or two people
can be strapped into

ball of fun and then
off you go. Down

There are different
Zorbing experiences
available depending
on how far you want
to take it. For
example, you have
the Harness Zorb and
the Hydro Zorb. Both
work on the same
principal but boy do
they offer a
different
experience!
The Harness
Zorb/Sphere: You
will be strapped
into the sphere and
rolled head over
heels down the hill!
The Hydro
Zorb/Sphere: You
guessed it - add
water! Some liken
this to a washing
machine cycle.
Others prefer to
call it a cleansing
experience, good for
the soul. Imagine
crossing a
rollercoaster with a
waterfall!
The inventors of the
Zorb, were
originally trying to
develop a way for
people to walk on
water.
A chap called Steve
Camp holds the
record for the
longest Zorb. In
2006 he rolled for a
dizzy 570 metres.
The average sphere
travels at approximately 30mph
Some people believe
that hydro Zorbing or aqua Sphereing
is the best known cure for a
hangover!
